The list below does not cover all features; it is a base only:
Launch the simulator (mod_rssim.exe). It must open the first free port (RS-232 by default). Choose the required protocol (if Ethernet, a serial port is not used and is not required), and click the Port Settings... button to edit port parameters. Parameters are saved in the Windows registry.
Serial protocols
Connect a cable (simply connector contacts 2, 3 and 7 must be free, contacts 4 and 5 must be closed, and contacts 6, 8 and 20 must be closed as well).
Ethernet
A computer must be equipped with an Ethernet adapter (or loop-back adapter).
Green numerated buttons in the bottom of the simulator window work also as indicators. They show what stations (devices) are active; grey contour of active stations changes a color. To connect/disconnect a station, click the respective button (only 60 stations are displayed). The green background color is replaced by the red color for disconnected stations. Disconnected stations will reveal an activity (and their contour will change a color), but the simulator will not answer.
Double-click a register to edit its value. Double click over digital I/O register inverts it.
You can change a format of value appearance (Hex/Dec) (addresses change a format as well).
You can use the preset key combinations.
All devices can be launched in the off-line mode.
Load does not work if nothing was saved earlier.
Save saves values of registers into the binary file MODDATA.DAT (ABDATA.DAT for the protocol DF1) in the simulator installation folder (do not edit those files!). This allows you to set some values for registers, and restore them later. Communications slow down and even can suspend during saving/load because these procedures mutually block each other.
Click Animation Settings... to change a color of the indicators in the bottom, and configure data for simulation.
Zero values zeroizes all values, including digital ones.
Responsiveness sets a delay in reply after reception of a correct request.
