The recommended polling device setting algorithm by its DLMS protocol driver is given below.
.Add DLMS protocol. Specify the node type (TCP or COM) and its parameters (port, speed, parity).
.Add device to protocol. Set its parameters - network address (normally, the last 5 digits of the serial number), safety parameters, password, server address. This information should be taken from the device documentation or checked with manufacturer.
.Save configuration and launch the execution. The device has a service, non-deletable time tag that is standard and mandatory for all the devices. If the poll is successfully completed and the time value is displayed - the communication with the device is established and you can add tags. If no communication is established, recheck the connection, node and device settings. You can also try polling with a third-party DLMS client - for example, Gurux DLMS Director.
.Open the import utility.
.If a new Excel file is ready for the device, press the Open button and select it.
.If the file is not ready, perform the tag reading from the device. After tag reading from the device it is recommended to save the file to Excel right away in order not to re-read.
.Select the required tags. In necessary - read their current values for a more precise identification.
.It is recommended to save the selected tags to Excel file to reuse exactly those tags that are required for this operation.
.Press the Import button. The tags are added to ОРС server.
.Launch the execution mode - make sure all tags are read. If some of the tags has the Uncertain quality attribute, this may indicate the mismatch of the data type (for example, tag is of the double type, but the resulting value is datetime). In this case, contact the service support.
.Stop the execution and launch the group polling mode. After that launch the execution mode again. If no polling is performed and all the tags are BAD, the device does not support the group polling and it should be turned off. If the device does not support the group polling, this is also displayed in the server log.
